Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast is a clinic located in Benowa.

Dr Isolde Hertess is a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon with over 27 years of experience. Her female perspective originated back to her training, when at the time she was one of the 3% of female plastic surgeons across the world. Dr Hertess operates in hospitals across both Cairns and the Gold Coast. This gives her the ability to operate on patients across Queensland, giving people the flexibility to choose their preferred and most convenient location.

ABDOMINOPLASTY (TUMMY TUCK):

An abdominoplasty aims to tighten the abdominal muscles, remove loose skin and excess fat. There are two main types of tummy tucks, full and mini, which one you opt for will depend on your goals and advice from your surgeon. The procedure helps to change the shape of the stomach, however it is not a substitute for weight loss. Some choose to have abdominoplasty in conjunction with other surgeries like thighplasty (thigh surgery) and a chosen type of breast surgery, this is known as combined surgery.

BLEPHAROPLASTY:

Blepharoplasty (upper eyelid surgery) removes excess skin or underlying fat from the upper eyes. A patient may opt for this surgery when they notice their upper eye area is looking and feeling heavy. The surgery is tailored to each patient’s individual needs and concerns, some even find that Blepharoplasty improves vision due to the hooded placement of the excess skin. Some patients choose to have this surgery alongside other facial procedures like a face lift or neck lift. It is important to understand that Blepharoplasty cannot remove wrinkles or dark circles under the eye.

Usually the incision is made at the natural skin fold on the upper eyelid, allowing for the scarring to be hidden by this natural fold. Incisions are then closed with dissolvable sutures, or sutures that are removed in clinic a few days later.

BREAST IMPLANT REMOVAL & MASTOPEXY:

After having implants for many years, some women decide to have them removed, implant replacement is then a very personal decision. Choosing to remove implants can be based off discomfort or pain caused by your implants, lifestyle changes, hormonal changes, capsular contracture, implant rupture, or BII. Removal of existing implants or having new implants put in can improve these symptoms. Some patients come to Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast as they are unhappy with the way their current implants appear due to poor placement in a previous surgery. Removal and replacement can also be based off the desire to increase or decrease bust size.

Implants have a life expectancy, this is usually around 8-12 years (in some cases up to 15 years). Over time issues can arise including rippling skin, hardening of breast tissue around the implant or small lumps. At this stage, it is important to book a consultation to discuss your options.

When replacement is not performed, women can choose a mastopexy (lift) only, it does not change the size of the breasts but does correct ptosis and changes the positioning of the nipple. A lift removes excess skin and is an option for women who want to change the shape and position of the breasts on the chest wall following implant removal.

BREAST AUGMENTATION & MASTOPEXY:

Women choose to have this surgery as a way to increase breast size and change the bust shape - it's a very personal journey.  There are multiple options when it comes to implant choice - smooth round silicone, textured round silicone or texture anatomical implant. Your surgeon will discuss with you the options and why a certain implant will suit your needs and aesthetic goal.

Combining breast augmentation with a lift is a procedure that changes both the size and position of the breasts in a single surgery. This approach addresses volume loss, ptosis, and excess skin. It also offers practical benefits, including a shorter recovery period and reduced overall surgical costs. It is suitable for patients experiencing changes due to ageing, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations, the procedure provides long-lasting results tailored to individual goals.
