Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery - Before & After Series

Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast is a boutique clinic located in Benowa.

Dr Isolde Hertess is a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon with over 27 years of experience. She is one of Queensland’s most well known and highly regarded plastic surgeons. Her unique female perspective originated back to her training, when at the time she was one of the 3% of female plastic surgeons across the world.

Dr Hertess operates in hospitals across both Cairns and the Gold Coast. This gives her the ability to operate on patients across Queensland, giving people the flexibility to choose their preferred and most convenient location.

“I just love working with women and giving them a new lease on life through the work that I do. To help give someone the confidence they have been lacking, typically over a long period of time, is truly the most rewarding part of my job. Supporting and uplifting women to live their best lives really does mean everything to me”. - Dr Isolde Hertess, Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast.

Below are three individual procedures with exceptional results.

TUMMY TUCK: This mum of 4 chose to undergo an Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) due to lost definition and loose skin around the stomach. After having twins our patient experienced an increase in stomach fat and lack of tone. She wanted to tighten the abdominal muscles and create a more contoured appearance.

A tummy tuck aims to tighten the abdominal muscles, remove loose skin, eliminate excess fat, and firm and tone the stomach. There are two main types of tummy tucks, full and mini, which one you opt for will depend on your goals and advice from your surgeon. The procedure helps to restore a flatter and more toned stomach, however it is not a substitute for weight loss. Some choose to have abdominoplasty in conjunction with other surgeries like thighplasty (thigh surgery) and a chosen type of breast surgery.

This patient was extremely happy with the results of her Abdominoplasty with minimal scarring.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

UPPER EYELID SURGERY: Professionally known as Blepharoplasty, upper eyelid surgery can make a patient appear much younger and more alert. This surgery removes excess skin or underlying fat from the upper eyes, leading to a more vibrant appearance, helping to rewind the clock. A patient may opt for this surgery when they notice their upper eye area is looking droopy and heavy. The surgery is tailored to each patient’s individual needs and concerns, some even find that Blepharoplasty improves vision due to the hooded placement of the excess skin. Some patients choose to have this surgery alongside other facial procedures like a face lift or neck lift. Although it results in a more refreshed appearance, it cannot remove wrinkles or dark circles under the eye, these can be treated with anti-wrinkle or filler.

Usually the incision is made at the natural skin fold on the upper eyelid, allowing for the scarring to be hidden by this natural fold. Incisions are then closed with dissolvable sutures, or sutures that are removed in clinic a few days later.

BREAST IMPLANT REMOVAL & MASTOPEXY: After having implants for many years, some women decide to have them removed, implant replacement is then a very personal decision. Choosing to remove implants can be based off discomfort or pain caused by your implants, lifestyle changes, hormonal changes, capsular contracture, implant rupture, or BII. Removal or new implants can improve these symptoms. Some patients come to Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast as they are unhappy with the way their current implants sit due to poor placement from other surgeons. Remove and replacement can often be based off the desire to increase or decrease bust size.

Implants have a life expectancy, this is usually around 8-12 years (in some cases up to 15 years). Over time issues can arise including rippling skin, hardening of breast tissue around the implant or small lumps. At this stage, it is important to book a consultation to discuss your options.

When replacement is not performed, women can choose a mastopexy (lift) only. This patient chose this path at Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast, it does not change the size of the breasts but does correct sagging and positioning of the nipple if need be. A lift removes excess skin, creates a perkier and rounder bust. This option is great for women who want to improve the shape and position of the breasts on the chest wall following implant removal.

See below for great results of explant surgery with mastopexy.

Breast Explant and Mastopexy

BREAST AUGMENTATION & MASTOPEXY: Breast augmentation surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the world, and at Dr Hertess Plastic Surgery Gold Coast. Women choose to have this surgery as a way to increase self confidence and self esteem, whether it is to increase cleavage and size to fill out your favourite dress, correct asymmetry, restore volume or shape, breast augmentation is a highly personal journey. There are multiple options when it comes to implant choice - smooth round silicone, textured round silicone or texture anatomical implant. Your surgeon will discuss with you the options and why a certain implant will suit your needs and desired look.

Combining breast augmentation and a breast lift is a common procedure. By performing these in conjunction with each other, the patient can have excess skin removed as well as increasing size and raising position of the breasts. The combination has become very popular with mothers who have finished having children, or women who have undergone lifestyle or hormonal changes. If you desire a more youthful looking bust, and restoration of volume and position, this surgery, also known as Mastopexy Augmentation, might be for you.

This patient achieved amazing results with a Mastopexy Augmentation.
